Roofing in Knoxville, TN

Metal roofing for East Tennessee homes and cabins

Metal costs more up front than shingles and can last a lot longer. Standing seam and exposed-fastener panels are the two common kinds. At the free inspection, we can price metal and architectural shingles side by side.

Where metal makes sense around here

  • Steep cabin roofs in Sevier County, where metal sheds rain and leaves fast.
  • Barns, shops and outbuildings in Karns and Powell.
  • Homeowners who plan to stay 20 years or more and would rather not reroof again.

If none of those is you, architectural shingles are usually the better buy, and we'll say so.

Is it loud in the rain?

On a house, the panels sit over solid decking and underlayment, with an attic and insulation below, and those layers soften the sound. Open-framed barns are louder because nothing sits between the panel and the room.

Does metal attract lightning?

No. Lightning goes for the tallest point around, whatever it's made of. A metal roof doesn't make a strike more likely.

Priced side by side

At the free inspection we measure once and price both: metal and architectural shingles, each line by line. Read what a roof costs in Knoxville and roof financing basics before you decide.

Metal roofing questions

Is a metal roof more expensive than shingles?

Up front, usually yes. Metal can cost noticeably more to install than architectural shingles, and standing seam costs more than exposed-fastener panels. What you get back is a longer life and less upkeep on a roof that sheds rain fast, which matters on steep cabin roofs and for owners who plan to stay a long time. We price both at the same inspection so you can compare them on paper.

Do you work on cabins and rental properties?

Yes. We work with cabin owners and rental managers in Sevierville and across Sevier County. We plan around your bookings, send you photos so you don't have to drive in, and quote steep metal and shingle roofs side by side. If you manage several properties, we can inspect them on one trip.

Is the drone inspection really free?

Yes. There's no charge and nothing to sign. We fly your roof, take close-up photos of every slope, and go through them with you. The photos are yours whether you hire us or not. If your roof is in good shape, we'll tell you that and leave.
