Roofing in Powell and the Emory Road corridor

Powell sits in the valley between Copper Ridge and Beaver Ridge, with older homes near the old station and subdivisions along Emory Road. It's unincorporated, so permits run through Knox County.

Older homes and Emory Road subdivisions

Powell has a mix of older houses and newer subdivisions. The older roofs tend to have more layers and tired decking. The subdivision roofs tend to be architectural shingles reaching their first big repairs.

Permits through Knox County

Powell isn't part of the City of Knoxville, so Knox County Codes Administration (knoxcounty.org/codes) sets the permit rules. We look up the rule for your address, and if a permit is needed we pull it before work starts.

Barns and outbuildings

Some Powell properties have a barn or shop as well as a house. Metal often makes sense on those. We can price the house and the outbuilding on the same visit.

What we'd do on a Powell roof

  • A free drone inspection, with photos you keep.
  • A written price, line by line.
  • One visit for the house and any outbuildings.
  • Cleanup with a magnet sweep, and a walk-through at the end.

Common questions

Is the drone inspection really free?

Yes. There's no charge and nothing to sign. We fly your roof, take close-up photos of every slope, and go through them with you. The photos are yours whether you hire us or not. If your roof is in good shape, we'll tell you that and leave.

After a storm, should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?

We'd get a free inspection first. It tells you whether there's damage worth a claim before anything goes on your record. If there is, you file the claim with your insurer (it's your claim) and we'll document the damage, write the scope, and meet the adjuster on the roof with you. If there isn't, you've lost nothing but an hour.

Which areas do you cover?

Knoxville and the towns around it: Farragut, Hardin Valley, Karns, Powell, Oak Ridge, Maryville, Lenoir City, Sevierville and Seymour. That covers parts of Knox, Blount, Loudon, Anderson and Sevier counties. If you're just outside that list, text us your address and we'll tell you honestly whether we can get to you.

Can you fix a leak instead of replacing the whole roof?

Usually, yes. Most roof leaks start at a handful of spots: cracked pipe boots, flashing at a wall or chimney, a few wind-lifted shingles, or a skylight. Each of those can usually be fixed on its own. If a repair will stop the leak, the repair is what we quote. We photograph the fix and tell you plainly when a roof has reached the point where patching is throwing money away.
